WATCH YOUR FEET.

In many ways, L.A. is the land of make-believe. Tinseltown is entirely founded on Acting. As in Pretending. And Drama. Right? So in a world structured on fictional situations with storybook characters, you’re gonna run into a lot of fake people. False fronts, and I don’t just mean the boobs.

Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park/Fort Minor) is kinda the opposite of that.

And to prove it, he’s working on an art show that responds to Hollywood’s celebrity culture. Entitled “Glorious Excess (Born),” Shinoda’s first series of paintings that touch on society’s obsession with cheap fame will be open July 12th to August 3rd at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown L.A.

Here’s one of Mike’s characters on his personalized iPhone. Cool.

Congratulations are also in order for Linkin Park’s new record hitting double-platinum and also “Hybrid Theory” reaching DIAMOND status. Which is something like 10 million albums, or 10 platinum albums. IN THE U.S. ALONE. It might be safe to say that it may be one of the last records to achieve that status because of the fate of music sales. Craze, Mike rattled off some statistic that in 2007, half of all high-schoolers didn’t buy a single CD!

Where are kids putting their money these days? Video games? Pogo Balls? Many say clothing. Which will definitely ring true in a month or so when these Mike Shinoda DC’s drop…

GO FOR GOLD.

That man listening intently to Ben’s digression about why the old American Gladiators was better, is Young Lee, co-founder of Pinkberry (the cracky dessert sensation I’ve casually referenced from time to time).  He’s a brilliant man with a captivating imagination, a branding intellectualizer, a learned student of design, and one of the most creatively invigorating dreamers I know.

If you’ve ever stepped foot in a Pinkberry, after you’ve inhaled your yogurt, take the time to absorb the environment and all of the conscious decisions Young put into not only the store’s buildout, but the Pinkberry experience as a whole.  From the music selection, to the hodgepodge decor, to why he’s included Fruity Pebbles as a topping.  There is a reason for everything, and trust me, you don’t keep coming back because you’re trying to be healthy.

Speaking of coming back, Lakers win and move onto the NBA Finals (Boston, anyone?).  Courtside, in the revolving TH chair, is Baron Davis in our “Team” cap and “Flat” button-up. And a very Happy Gilmore.

HUMP DAY.

I don’t know why I titled this entry that.

Anyways, this is Se7en. He’s huge in Korea, kinda like a Justin Timberlake but not so Caucasian. Recently, he crossed the pond to take over the States with his Asian invasion. He’s already got a track with Three 6 Mafia and cracked open a couple shows in LA and SF with them, and he just brought the house down at a local Verizon in-store signing. He’s actually a real down-to-earth dude, enjoys life in the States because he doesn’t get trampled by screaming girls when he’s at the mall, and has a really extensive Wikipedia entry. Not to be confused with this one.

The Palihouse is where it’s at.

Dr. Romanelli brought up a question today, one that we’re frequently asked.  What would we be wearing if we didn’t have The Hundreds?  I really haven’t had a proper answer for that in a while.  Back to AAA blanks and Dickies?  Hmm.

I wouldn’t mind those Visvim x Sophnet Kiefer-His for starters.
