I’ll be away from the screen this weekend (Good God, what’s that giant glowing orb in the sky?), so the blog might not be updated as often as you’d like. But that reminds me to remind YOU that THE FEED is alive and kickin’ like Bruce Lee’s shoes. We launched The Feed because we realized that we didn’t generally care for most of the news on the other news-blogs, and in fact, it was pretty irrelevant to what interested us and our friends. So we funnelled it all down to our own handpicked news that caters to the stories that we can truly get behind. I mean, rainbow sneakers and obscure Transylvanian labels are nice and all, but we just can’t really relate.

Besides the bottomless hate and gossip, arguing in circles over who bit who, people staring at my shoes and clothes before they look at my face, free t-shirts, the best part of being involved in this business are the relationships we’ve built with solid folk along the way.
Kevin Ito has long been a TH supporter, but unfortunately we don’t get to see him much around these parts since he moved to NYC. Dame Dash’s former personal photographer is a jack of all trades, having just finished working on the cover for Jay-Z’s new album. Next up: ending world hunger and mastering phone Tetris.

Flynn (L.A. Symphony) and I go back way before any of this, as do I with Robbie Jeffers, one of the brainchilds who launched Nike SB. Sometimes, [MacKaye] good guys do wear white [/MacKaye]. And/or plaid.

If you’ve been comin’ around for a while, you’ve suffered through many a nostalgic rambling about vintage Airwalks. Well, I’m not alone because Bill has constructed an elaborate online homage to the archetypal skate shoe of yesteryear over at Airwalk Prototypes. From Enigmas to Disasters, Sorrys to the crowd favorite NTS, it’s all there for your perusal. From the earliest skate boutiques to its current retirement at your local Payless Shoes, Airwalk’s like the Scott Baio of sneakerdom. Washed up, but never forgotten!
Velcro? Laces? Why not both!

But our new knit striped sweaters, cardigans, and “The Porch Life” New Eras are! Remember: smoking = smelly = girls hate you. The Hundreds = cool new clothes = ..well,.. girls still hate you. But at least you don’t die from cool new clothes.
Dropping tomorrow morning at The Store at 7909 Rosewood Ave., and our choice worldwide accounts over the next week.

For lunch today, we stopped by our friend Mike’s new restaurant, Food Court Los Angeles, on 3rd Street. It’s exactly what it sounds like,.. without the mallrat connotations. A cornucopia of all the best foods in one place, whether it’s ahi tuna or chicken salad sandwiches.

By far, the best macaroni & cheese I’ve ever had. Trust me, I’ve lived in a college dorm.
A few doors down is upscale boutique Kingsbury. Although it’s just a few blocks away from our store, this was actually my first time visiting the store. Which not only makes me lazy but dumb in the face, because it’s one of the most refreshing stores I’ve entered in quite some time. The relaxed, casual atmosphere caters to the more sophisticated consumer who appreciates labels like Maharishi, Rockers NYC, and Pegleg. My favorite aspect of the shop was it’s emphasis on the backgrounds behind each brand, seeking to educate each shopper on the story behind the product they’re purchasing. Like “The Hundreds is run by big lazy dumbfaces.”
